Dan Aruta - Pinecraft Log Homes
As a craftsman running a small business, fine woodworking is very important to me. I am proud to keep traditional crafts alive by building beautiful homes that show subtle artistry. My goal is to create work that enriches the lives of the people who choose to build with me.

Log cabins and log homes are my passion. I build using live edge logs, traditional notches, and classic architecture, while including modern comforts and energy efficiency. I learned to build Appalachian-style log cabins from a group of men who kept this craft alive through the 20th century when it was at risk of being lost. I am proud to be part of this tradition—a line of builders who appreciate the beauty and history of log cabins and bring that spirit into the modern world.

I build homes that make you feel connected to our past and to nature. Whether as a primary home in the woods, a hunting lodge, or a lake house, these log homes bring warmth and character. Nothing brings me more joy than using a mix of chainsaws and hand tools to cut large dovetails and create a building that will last for centuries.
About me - Dan Aruta - Pinecraft Log Homes
As a craftsman and small business owner, fine woodworking is at the heart of what I do. I’m proud to carry on the tradition of hand-built homes, using time-tested techniques to create beautiful spaces with care and meaning. My goal is simple: to build something that brings lasting value and joy to the people who live in it.

Log Homes Built with Passion and Purpose
Log cabins are my passion. I use traditional log joinery and classic Appalachian design, while also keeping modern comforts and energy efficiency in mind. I was trained by a group of builders who kept this craft alive through the 20th century, during a time when it was almost lost. I’m proud to be part of their legacy—builders who love the beauty of log homes and believe in blending history with today’s world.

My homes are built to feel warm, natural, and connected to both the past and the outdoors. There’s nothing I enjoy more than using a mix of chainsaws and hand tools to cut large dovetails and create a home that will stand strong for generations.

My Training and Experience
I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Furniture and Woodworking from Kutztown University. After graduating, I began an apprenticeship with Gary Long, traveling to different locations and learning the craft of log home building. During this time, I also had the chance to work with three other skilled craftsmen: Alan Logan, Tim Gott, and Lenny Rizzo. I worked alongside these mentors for a total of four years.

After my apprenticeship, I spent two years working at a high-end timber frame shop in southeastern Pennsylvania. While working full-time, I spent weekends building small cabins on the side. One of these projects gave me the opportunity to work with Jim Huston, an expert in historic building and restoration. I still work with my mentors from time to time, and through them, I met Paul Glidwell, another highly skilled builder I’ve enjoyed working with.

Where I Am Today
Today, I’m focused on growing Pinecraft Log Homes and continuing to improve my skills. Every project is a chance to build something lasting and meaningful—and to share a craft that still matters.
