Washington on the Brazos Historic Site

Washington on the Brazos is a historic site that recreates the original town once located there. I was proud to build this small red cedar log cabin for the park. Though it's a small building, it's packed with unique, hand-crafted details.
The cabin sits on modern piers, which I carefully hid using hollowed-out post oak logs to keep the historic look. The hand-hewn red cedar logs are joined with square notches, and the floor joists are dovetailed into the sill.
The rafters and gable studs are made from full-round cedar saplings, and the roof is topped with live-edge yellow pine lath.
This was a very fun and rewarding project to build.
